Golshahr Plaza
Architect: Mohammadreza Soleimani
Project Type: Urban Design
Employer: Tarkhani Foundation
Area: 22000 m2
Location: Karaj, Iran
Project Year: 2018
The project main idea was formed based on putting most functions and masses in underground levels to reduce energy consumption, to create green roofs in order to increase green areas, and to organize paths and places. The paths were designed based on site existing axes and inspired by Iranian gardens geometry to create continuous and connected movement.
Organizing most functions at the underground levels creates attractive frames of view along with campus and plaza axes. Therefore, the visible parts of the mass were designed to create a sign and to supply daylight.
Also, the symbolic form of the mosque was shaped by a different form of minarets, using inscriptions and calligraphy on minarets and heightening the part of mosque roof to be visible from far distances, to invite and to direct movement in the site.
